  • A tragic day at Bondi. In line with our message of surf safety we urge you (and your friends and family) to learn about rips, how to spot them and how to get out of them. If you'd like to learn more about rips, Lifeguard Jethro has some tips here:

Think of the poor family witnessing their loved one "maybe" passing away and you're standing there, maybe even if you're rude as heck you record? That's sick. PLEASE keep away when these things happen! PLEASE!

    Alison TUCKERAlison TUCKERDag geleden
  • “If you can’t swim don’t go swimming” - we all get that it doesn’t need to be repeated. If you read articles about this story, this man got caught up in a rip tide. He wasnt trying to go swimming in deep water at all. He had been in Australia for a while before this happened, when getting his education and his dream was to bring his family to live in Australia. It’s likely he felt he knew his limitations not being able to swim and stuck in the shallows for quick dips but things happen (like rip tides). Edit: Just changed punctuation

  • not only did you put your own self in serious danger you put everyone on the beach in serious danger and learn how to swim, but a person who panics in water will also grab onto someone else and drown them with you, and the warning from the family should have been so much faster when watching your farther who can not swim go into deep water, everything about this is sad and pathetic at the same time.

  • its just one of those things you cant blame the guy he was in shallow water where he could stand up alot of factors to consider with the rip and some factors that we may not even know about so best not to speculate on "what ifs" or "should ofs" its just sad that accidents do happen its no ones fault, ya gotta respect the lifegaurds they all did a great job comforting the family they were very respectful the way the handled the search and rescue attempt even though they knew he had been under too long, i just hope everyone that watched this can learn from it like the family wished and always look after each other even if its not your family if you see someone in trouble in the water just alert lifegurds as fast as possible because as we saw every minute is critical, my heart goes out to the family and those lifegaurds ive had to deal with finding someone that had drowned before its not easy to deal with and they all did an amazing job and should be proud of how they handled the situation so well ❤️

  • I’m sorry for their horrible loss. But who goes in unfamiliar, rough waters like that alone, when you can’t swim? I’m not a strong swimmer & wouldn’t dare swim alone in the ocean looking like that! In fact, I’ve never gone in the ocean alone! For all his smarts....Not very wise w/that decision. His son will be haunted by not being w/his dad for the rest of his life, I’m sure. :( So sad, all around. 😔

  • 🕊🕊First, my condolences to this man’s family🕊🕊 The guards are BOSS!! I’ve been in numerous life saving situations n the hospital to the local mall. It’s hard....knowing that only God knows the person’s (victim) end result, for a bit, it’s sooooo easy to wonder if there was more that can be done, should we have worked on the person 5 more mins when 45 mins of consistent CPR has been done, sweating in places on your body you didn’t even know sweat, could this situation been seen moments’s not only physically tiresome....if the person matter how hard you try to keep them here, one never becomes numb to grief and certain level of guilt. It’s called being human. I think more providers than not have continued recitation efforts 5, 10, 20 mins longer simply because we dread to having to look families in the eyes and tell them that their loved one has gone home. I commend these life guards....this job is no joke. It takes a very special person that runs to danger to help others and possibly put their own lives on the line. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
